10 ways to decorate your Schleich stable for summer, Schleich realistic setup, stable decorations

May 31, 2025

I would say it's officially summer, even though the weather has been acting all crazy on me lately and I can't predict whether there will be sunshine or hail.

When it comes to decorating the stable for summer I like to divide the process in groups of five. Five key features of a summer stable and five details that make it come to life.

Key features of a summer stable:

  1. Grass in the fields and summer greenery (flowers, shrubs, trees)

  2. Have activities going on. Summer is a busy season for equines, most people are out riding or working with their horses.

  3. Don't forget about barn chores! Saddles, bridles and rugs need to be cleaned all year round.

  4. If possible, open the windows and doors of your stable.

  5. Summer=fly season... sorry to bring it up but there are always bottles of fly spray, fly masks, and turn out sheets at the barn during hot times.

Details that make the stable come to life:

  1. Summer stables are buzzing not only with horses but also with dogs, cats, and other farm animals.

  2. Leave accessories in random places. Everyone is busy and no one has time to clear everything up. Brushes, lead ropes, whips, helmets, saddle pads, boots, these items are generally forgotten about.

  3. Place people in the shade, chatting in groups, planning shows, or watching the arena.

  4. Have different exercises set up in the arena for the horses.

  5. Add paper rosettes, lists of lesson kids or horses, events that are planned, and any other fun activity you can think of!

These were my tips for a realistic, summer Schleich stable setup! I implement these tips in my own setups and I hope they will be useful for your next stable makeover!

Until next week, everyone!
