How to make a Schleich model horse crop! Whip/Stick tutorial for Schleich rider

April 23, 2025

Hello everyone!

I put together this easy crop tutorial for your Schleich horses and riders. I want to just clear something first. I am a firm believer that the whip or crop is a tool which helps guide our horses, it should be used properly and gently.

The materials you will need for this DIY are:

  1. tooth picks

  2. acrylic paint in the color of your choice

  3. egg carton (crop style)

  4. black or colorful string (whip style)

  5. embroidery string (optional)

  6. small beads (optional)

  7. hot glue or glue of your choice

  8. measuring tape

The first step is to cut your tooth pick to about 3 centimeters.

That will be your handle, next, you need to decide between two styles for the crop or whip.

For the crop you need to cut a triangle out of the egg carton and then remove one of its corners.

For the whip style you will need to twist your string and secure the ends with glue. Then cut it to reach a length of around 4.5 centimeters.

You will then attach your two parts together.

Now you can paint them the color of your choice!

You can either stop here or continue to embellish them by wrapping and gluing embroidery string on the handle, adding sparkle, or both 💕

The crops and whips are now complete! There are endless customization options so feel free to let your creativity go!

I hope this tutorial was helpful! Until next time!
