My Equine Photography experiences! Horse shows and at home horses!
March 26, 2025
Besides my model horse photography, I love capturing important moments through my artistic equine photography. My general sources for real horses are at my local park and at horse shows, where I love going! The other times I'm with horses are when I'm riding or working with them, in which case there is no time for a camera ;)
These are some of my favorite shots of my local horses.
I adore coming out to see them, give them scratches, and massages as I've been enjoying learning equine massage techniques!
The upcoming pictures were taken when I attended the Karpatia Horse Show in 2024, I love going to this show, we've been going for many years! I loved taking pictures of the contestants from all the classes! I have pictures from the Cross Country, Working Equitation, Driving, and the Dressage masterclass.
What a gorgeous pair! I sadly don't have all the stats on them but I remember the presenter saying the horse is named Oklahoma and her rider competed multiple times at the Olympics with some of her other horses. Next is a picture of one of the riders in the home stretch.
This is the talented Cristina Calin who held her Dressage Masterclass in the main arena. I actually got the chance to ride in the same arena with her at one of my riding schools where she keeps her horses, I am still in aw that I didn't recognize her! We actually even had a conversation about her beautiful veteran horse she was working with! I focused back on my lesson then, but to get to see her at the show and realize who I had talked to and ridden with just left me speechless and I am so lucky to have had that opportunity! I didn't have all my camera lenses with me that day and I a was so sad I couldn't get a better picture!
I am sure to bring all my gear next time I go to a show and I am so excited for the coming event season! I'm looking forward to the sunny days photographing at home or away at a show and I hope this inspired you to spare some time for the horses or to try equine photography if you haven't done so already!
