3 Books for Equine Artist Reference/Inspiration! Model horse artist, equine artist, horse art

Art

Hello everyone!

Today we will be taking a look at three of my favorite horse books for equine artist reference and inspiration!

This is The Horse Encyclopedia from DK. A widely known book, it has pages upon pages of unique horse breed descriptions, a well rounded guide to equine welfare, and beautifully displayed guides to horse markings and coat colors as well as history. The book has information on over 150 horse breeds, with photographs of the more common and rarest breeds. It is perfect for those who want to see images of a wide range of different breeds.

Isolated Horse Images for Artist’s Reference & Inspiration is Sarah Tregay’s innovative book full of horses on a white backdrop. It is an amazing tool for model horse and equine artists because there is a wide variety of horses in different coat colors and poses.

For artists looking to draw and paint horses with technique, Horses the Fascinating World of Drawing and Painting from the Leonardo Collection is the perfect book. Not only does it have intermediate shots of sketches and paintings so you could follow along, but it also contains extensive charts of horse muscle structures and skeletal system.

As you can tell, I am only showing a few pictures here but these are entire books packed of horsey information, charts, examples, and references.

I hope this post was helpful and thank you for reading!
